On the evening of the Summer Solstice and World Humanist Day join a secular gathering of people to hear about connectivity and how we can tackle loneliness. Live singers will help us all join in singing some songs - there will poetry, sharing of experiences and conversation.

Picnic in the Park  -

12:30 - 4:00 pm  Bring your own picnics and borrow our blankets to sit on the grass and enjoy the atmosphere. Meet some of the organisations that help Chester and the surrounding area have a real sense of community. A variety of musicians will perform throughout the afternoon, there are puzzles, games and craft activities for children (and adult children!).

"Try It - try something new" -

Sunday 23 June 2019

12:30 - 3:30 pm  Active Cheshire are leading activities for children and adults with Spacehoppers and other fun. Join them and other groups - some offering tasters to try something new - you may find a group you could join or an activity you want to pursue.

Membership of groups offers help and support to prevent feelings of isolation and keeping active similarly helps positive approaches.

Humanists believe strongly that when we work together we are greater than the sum of our parts.

Chester Humanists are working with other voluntary groups to organise Great Get Together events in 2019 aimed at helping to celebrate local communities and contribute to efforts to tackle social exclusion.

We are all unique

and yet whatever our beliefs

we have far more in common

than that which divides us

Jo Cox was murdered in June 2016 - in part at least because she believed in tolerance and bringing people together.

In June 2017 the first Great Get Together weekend took place marking the anniversary of Jo Cox's death with many community events.

In June 2019 the weekend marks the anniversary of her birth and promises to offer even more.

For more information visit the Great Get Together and The Jo Cox Foundation.

If you are organising a different event please let us know and we can help promote all.

If you can offer any thoughts, ideas or help - brilliant - please email ggtchester@gmail.com

Our varied activities and services promote connection, self-learning, and humanist values.
